Feb. 27, 2024 - Earning the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Men's Tennis Player of the Week award for the second consecutive week, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez of the North Central College men's tennis team used a nationally ranked win in singles play to capture the accolade.

In the Cardinals' 6-3 loss to No. 25 UW-Whitewater, Vilarroig Martinez beat No. 16 (No. 5 in the Central Region) Luke Vandonslear 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. In doubles play, he teamed up with Matthew Sengphommachanh to win 8-6 and remain unbeaten as a duo.

This marks Villaroig Martinez's sixth career CCIW Player of the Week Award, tying Sam Sweeney '11 for most in program history. The Cardinals have earned the honor 33 times since the award began in 2008.

North Central's schedule does not get easier as the Cardinals head south to face No. 9 Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday morning. The match is set for 10:30 a.m. at Tao Tennis Center.
