Feb. 7, 2024 - Claiming the first men's tennis College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week honor of 2024, North Central College's
Wyatt Crowell earned the accolade by a 7-1 combined record to start the spring season.
Following a 2-0 match against NAIA's Olivet Nazarene University, Crowell teamed up with Guillermo Gonzalez Fernandez to take down No. 10 University of Chicago's No. 1 doubles team 8-7 (7-5). He and Gonzalez Fernandez won all four doubles matches to begin the spring slate.
In singles play, Crowell went to a tiebreak in his first match against his ONU before falling to Ajer Sher (UChicago) at No. 4 singles 4-6, 6-7. He bounced back with wins over Lucas Preston (Kalamazoo College) and Nabil Fawaz (Illinois Institute of Technology).
North Central sits at 3-1 with wins over Olivet Nazarene, Kalamazoo, and Illinois Tech. The Cardinals take on DePauw University (Ind.) on Friday before acquiring off with Carleton College on Sunday afternoon.
