Mar. 25, 2024 - North Central College softball student-athlete Juliana Maude has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Pitcher of the Week for Mar. 18-24, as announced by the CCIW on Monday.

Maude was recognized on the strength of an eight-inning complete-game performance on Tuesday, as the Cardinals defeated Augustana College, 2-1, in the CCIW opener for both teams. After allowing a leadoff single in the first inning, Maude retired 21 consecutive batters as the game went into extra innings as a scoreless tie. Maude allowed just three hits and no walks in the game while striking out six batters.

Maude owns a perfect 6-0 record with two saves in 10 appearances thus far this season and has posted six complete games, including three shutouts, in eight starts. Maude currently leads the CCIW in shutouts, strikeouts (40) and earned-run average (1.14).

The Cardinals (13-3, 1-1 CCIW) end an eight-day break from competition Wednesday, when they travel to Bedrosian Stadium in Aurora for a non-conference double header against Aurora University (11-2).
