May 1, 2024 – Connor Riss of the North Central College men's track and field team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week after his tremendous performance last week at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. 
 
Riss competed in the 5,000-meter run (unseeded) at the Relays. Riss earned a second-place finish against highly ranked opponents, finishing in 14 minutes and 15.13 seconds. 
 
Additionally, Riss was a part of the Cardinals distance medley along with AJ Lehman, Logan Tanttu, and Braden Nicholson. The group recorded a 10-minute and 2.13-second finish to take sixth place. Their time ranks seventh in the program's outdoor top ten records.
 
North Central will compete at the CCIW Championships on May 3 and May 4, hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill. More information will be announced later this week.
