NCAA DIII Women's Tennis Rankings

May 2, 2024 - The four-time defending College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Champions, the North Central College women's tennis team, is ranked No. 28 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Rankings, No. 10 in the Central Region while the NCAA places the Cardinals at No. 3 in Region VI.

North Central is 23-7 on the year while posting a perfect 8-0 record in league play. To close out the spring, the Cardinals won the CCIW Tournament to claim their spot in the NCAA Tournament. The 23 wins on the year set a new program record for wins in a season.

Abigail Penados ranks as the seventh-best singles player in Region VI with Natalie Bassett appearing in the "In Consideration" section of the singles rankings. The Penados/Bassett duo is ranked No. 4 in the region. Penados is 20-6 in singles play while Bassett is 17-7. As a doubles team, they are 23-5.

The University of Chicago remains the No. 1 team in the Central Region with the Washington University in St. Louis, Case Western Reserve University, Carleton College, and Grinnell College rounding out the top five. The Cardinals are the lone CCIW school in the ITA Central Region Rankings.

The selection show for the NCAA Tournament, which will reveal North Central's next opponent and location, is set for 12 p.m. (ET) on NCAA.com.
