Oct. 8, 2025 - Winning her first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Player of the Week award this season and sixth of her career, North Central College women's tennis senior Abigail Penados remained perfect in league play to take home the honor.

Penados beat Wheaton College's No. 1 singles player Madeline Gentry 6-4, 6-3, following a 6-4 win in doubles play with teammate Kensington Payne over Gentry and Tatum Thurstone. Closing out the week, Penados defeated Augustana College's Hannah Colbert 7-5, 6-1 after a 6-1 doubles win over Colbert and Colleen Larry. The Cardinals also stayed perfect in CCIW play, moving to 5-0 with a 4-3 win over the Thunder and a 5-2 victory over the Vikings
 
Penados improves to 9-1 in singles play with a 7-0 record in dual matches. In doubles competition, she is 6-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play. 

North Central closes out its fall schedule with three matches this week, beginning with North Park University Wednesday for a 2 p.m. first serve at the River Park Courts in Chicago.
