MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (May 24, 2024) - There is no better way for the North Central College women's track and field team to celebrate Head Coach
Kari Kluckhohn's birthday than at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. The Cardinals had a shorter day at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium, but it was full of fierce competition under the sun.
Faith Ladin completed the second day of the heptathlon by competing in the long jump, javelin throw, and the 800-meter run. Ladin's best leap of the long jump was 5.20m (17'0.75"). In the javelin throw, Ladin took first place with a toss of 41.52 (136'2.75"). In her last event of the day, Ladin clocked a time of two minutes, 29.18 in the 800-meter run. Ladin finished 11th with a total of 4,716 points. In addition, Ladin earned Second Team All-American honors.
Next up for North Central was
Lindsey Novak in the 400-meter preliminaries. Novak had a great start to the race and continued to excel the rest of the event. Novak crossed the finish line in 55.39 seconds and earned her spot in the finals on Saturday.
Also competing on the track was
Marcedes Jackson in the 100-meter dash. Jackson did a great job from the starting line to the finish line, clocking a time of 11.92 seconds to finish third in her heat. Unfortunately, Jackson's efforts fell short after a runner in the third heat bumped her out of the finals.
North Central will finish the Championships tomorrow (May 25), with
Alexandra Draves competing in the hammer throw at 1 p.m. and Novak competing in the 400-meter dash at 5:10 p.m.
