North Central College's softball team has been recognized with four selections to the 2024 All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Teams, as selected by the CCIW's nine head coaches. The selections were announced Wednesday in advance of this weekend's CCIW Tournament.

Freshman pitcher Juliana Maude was one of two pitchers voted to the All-CCIW First Team. Maude was also named the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year, becoming the fourth Cardinal to be so honored and the third in the last five seasons.

Maude started eight of North Central's 16 conference games, posting a won-lost record of 5-2 with six complete games and two shutouts. Maude ranked second in the CCIW in strikeouts (44) and third in earned-run average (1.16) in league play, and was named the CCIW's Pitcher of the Week for the week of Mar. 18-24. Maude owns an overall record of 12-4 and a 1.36 ERA in 22 appearances (19 starts) in 2024 with 14 complete games, five shutouts, three saves and 99 strikeouts in 128-2/3 innings.

The Cardinals also had three selections to the All-CCIW Second Team in Katie Del Re (shortstop), Talia Torosian (second base) and Sam Schilf (pitcher). North Central is the lone CCIW team with more than one All-Conference pitcher in 2024.

Del Re is the 16th player in the Cardinals' history to earn All-CCIW honors three times, receiving First Team accolades and the First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award in 2021 before a second First Team distinction and the conference's inaugural Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year selection in 2023. Del Re batted .275 in conference play with a team-high 11 runs scored, and has started all 80 of North Central's CCIW games in the last four seasons. In 38 games this season, Del Re is batting a team-high .355 with 30 runs, four triples, nine sacrifice hits and 10 stolen bases.

Torosian, a Second Team All-Conference pick for the second straight year, started 12 CCIW games at second base and four at third base, and has also started all 80 conference games the past four seasons. Torosian batted .208 in league play with two home runs and seven runs batted in. For the season, Torosian is batting .322 with team-leading totals in doubles (9), home runs (3) and runs batted in (32) while ranking third nationally in sacrifice flies (7).

Schilf, a first-time All-CCIW pick, made nine appearances in conference play with four starts. Schilf posted a record of 4-1 with two shutouts and 30 strikeouts, ranking second in the conference in ERA (0.54). In 16 total appearances (seven starts), Schilf is 5-2 with a 1.43 ERA in 53-2/3 innings with three complete games, two shutouts and 41 strikeouts.

The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourages inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is senior outfielder Ronnie Latka.

The Cardinals are the No. 3 seed in this year's CCIW Tournament, to be held Thursday through Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University's Inspiration Field. North Central opens play at 2:00 p.m. Thursday against No. 6 seed North Park University in the single-elimination first round. The winner will advance to a 6:00 p.m. matchup with No. 2 seed Augustana College in double-elimination play.
