2023-24 CSC Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest Award Winners

Clark Teuscher received three district writing awards in the 2023-24 College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest for his articles promoting Cardinal Athletics, the organization announced in June.
CSC members in all eight districts submitted nearly 400 articles in seven categories. For the first time this year, the contest was split into University and College divisions. All writing had to have an original publish date between January 1-December 31, 2023 to be eligible. North Central falls in District 5 which covers the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Minnesota, as well as the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba.
The 2023 Softball Season Preview written by Teuscher finished first for the College Division's Season Recap/Preview category. Teuscher's article written for North Central football titled
Cardinals Bound for Semifinals after Thrilling Win was named the co-winner of the Event Coverage category for the College division. In the Historical Feature division, Teuscher's submission of
Hall of Fame Inductee: David Jones '94 earned runner-up honors.
Teuscher, who has served as the College's Sports Information Director since July of 2008, earned Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest honors in 2011 for his recap of North Central's victory in the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin schools were honored in the contest, with Teuscher winning three awards and Carthage College's assistant director of athletic communications, Justin Corrigan, finishing as the runner-up in the Season Recap/Preview category.
In addition to writing articles for northcentralcardinals.com, the sports information department oversees website maintenance, event administration, graphic design, broadcasting, historical record keeping and other initiatives for North Central Athletics.
