Jan. 18, 2025 – The North Central College women's track and field team flew past the competition in the annual Pat Heenan Invitational with four event wins and two additions to the program's top ten list.
The Cardinals eclipsed the next competitor, Olivet Nazarene University in points by 129. Olivet Nazarene held second with 87 points while DePaul (73), Concordia University Wisconsin (50.5), North Park University (39), St. Francis University (30), Concordia University Chicago (29), Benedictine University (16), Judson University (10), Coe College (8.5), and Harper College (5) followed.
Lindsey Novak, Gabrielle Harding, and
Gwen Berenyi led the Cardinal effort, each earning wins. Novak won the 400-meter dash (57.38) which netted her a seventh-place spot in the Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) national list. She also snagged a victory in the 200-meter dash to improve her program record time to 24.97 seconds and place fourth in the TFRRS national list. Novak also logged an improvement to her 60-meter dash time in the preliminaries clocking in at 7.71 seconds falling 0.01 seconds behind
Marcedes Jackson's record but leapt to ninth on the TFRRS list.
The pole vault saw Berenyi measure in at 3.77 meters (12' 4.5") for fifth all-time and fifth in the TFRRS list while
Natalie Johnson (3.55m, 11' 7.75"),
Ariana Rivera (3.10m, 10' 2"), and Lilly Wintergerst (2.95m, 9' 8") followed behind. For weight throws Gabrielle Harding heaved a measure of 16.36m (53' 8.25") for a third-place spot in the program's all-time top ten while
Arianna Teichman logged a third-place 13.54m (44' 5") throw.
The Cardinals in the 60-meter dash final had
Allie Dockins clock in at 8.01 seconds for a fourth-place finish. In the 60-meter hurdle, Isabella Valentin finished third (9.33) while
Anna Cotter followed in fifth (9.66). The 800-meter run saw Olivia Durbn take second with a finish of 2:29.62 and
Segilola Smith-Pariola take fifth with 2:33.57. North Central ran uncontested with six runners taking all finishes in the 5000-meter run between
Julia Benes (18:42.53),
Lily Anderson (18:49.08), Brianna Ruiz (20:13.70),
Paige Runkle (20:28.64), Emma Cecich (21:35.79), and
Olivia Parmelee (21:54.38). For the mile run,
Marissa Magana finished in second with 5:32.39. The high jumps saw
Pola Kubrak measure in at fourth (1.56m, 5' 1.50") and Paulina Stachura mark at fifth (1.53m, 5' 0.25").
Faith Ladin marked in at second (5.33m, 17' 6") in the long jump with
Katelyn McCann following in fourth (5.19m, 17' 0.25"). In triple jumps the Cardinals swept the second through fourth positions between Abbie Layne (10.63m, 34' 10.50"),
Zainab Maiyaki (10.57m, 34' 8"), and Lily Wintergerst (10.47m, 34' 4.25").
