PEORIA, Ill. (Oct. 17, 2025) – Racing schools from all divisions, the North Central College women's cross country team turned in a strong performance at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill., for a Friday afternoon race. The Cardinals placed 12th as a team in the women's six-kilometer White Race.
North Central totaled 337 points as a team for a 12th-place finish in a field with 21 complete teams. Division II school, Grand Valley State University, won the race with 41 points, followed by Division I University of Northern Iowa with 51 points, and Missouri State University in third with 100 points.
Lily Anderson came through the first 2k in 85th with
Marissa Magana and
Molly Sheridan not far behind in 91st and 94th, respectively. Magana began her climb at the halfway mark, moving into 87th with Sheridan hanging back inside a Division III group with runners from Millikin University and Central College.
The 4k mark proved to be the momentum shift for Magana as she jumped 14 places into 73rd as Sheridan and
Brianna Ruiz settled into their races in 96th and 102nd. With 1k to go, Magana moved into 65th place with Sheridan and Ruiz sticking together in 97th and 99th, respectively. As the finish line neared,
Camdyn Lawson kicked it up a notch, moving up six spots into 104th.
Magana ran down three more runners to finish as the Cardinals' top runner with a season-best time of 23:51.3, good for 62nd place. Ruiz managed to climb five spots to finish 94th overall in a time of 24:30.2, her fastest time of the season as well.
Yarecci Salmeron also made a big push at the end, moving up seven spots to finish 100th in a time of 24:36.6, with Sheridan two spots behind in 102nd (24:39.4) and Lawson finishing in 105th-place (24:40.7).
Anderson finished 121st (25:04.96) while
Arielle Manas came in 130th (25:20.98) and
Giselle Alcala finished 138th (25:34.03).
After schools from all divisions challenged the Cardinals this week at the Bradley Pink Classic, North Central will turn its attention to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on Saturday, Nov. 1st in Rock Island, Ill.
