NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 4, 2025) – In the final installment of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athlete of the Week awards, North Central College women's soccer's Gabriella Mattio was named the Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week.
 
Mattio led the team to its eighth and final win of the regular season last Wednesday, Oct. 29 after scoring both Cardinal goals against the Wheaton College Thunder. A stalemate through the opening half was broken 22 seconds after halftime as Mattio scored the first goal of the game before using a spin move to drop her defender for a one-on-one look with the Wheaton keeper. The junior scored the first brace of her career in the 2-0 win, putting the exclamation point on North Central's perfect 8-0 conference record. The win locked in the No. 1 seed for the CCIW Tournament, which began on Saturday, Nov. 1, with a pair of quarterfinal matches.
 
North Central received a quarterfinal bye and will now take on Wheaton for the second time in a week on Wednesday, Nov. 5 inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium at 7 p.m.
