DAVENPORT, Iowa (Dec. 6, 2025) – The North Central College men's track and field season officially began today with junior BJ Sorg and graduate student Jacob Kluckhohn racing the 5,000-meter run at Saint Ambrose University's Frigid Bee Invite on Saturday, Dec. 6. Both student-athletes turned in career-best efforts for the indoor 5k.
The men's 5k field featured 33 student-athletes from seven institutions and two track clubs. Both Sorg and Kluckhohn raced the opening heat of the 5k as they were tabbed the eighth and ninth seeds heading into the competition.
Sorg turned in a third-place heat finish in a time of 14:15.43 while Kluckhohn was 11th in the heat with a time of 14:55.90. Sorg's time was a 14 second personal best for the junior as he placed third overall while Kluckhohn turned in a two-second career best for 12th-place overall.
The Cardinals will send graduate student Jacob Ahlberg back to St. Ambrose next Thursday, Dec. 11 to compete in the men's heptathlon at the Finals Week Invite with a larger group set to compete in Chicago, Ill. At the Blue Demon Holiday Invite on Friday, Dec. 12.
