Feb. 15, 2025 – The North Central College men's track and field team sent runners to the Midwest Elite at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater while hosting the second day of the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.
On Friday at the Midwest Elite,
Braden Nicholson led the Cardinals in seventh place in the 5000-meter run, finishing in 14:16.31.
At the Al B. Carius Track's 5000-meter run,
Nolan Crooks took fourth (15:30.67), with
Kyle Nofziger following in fifth (15:35.30).
Brayden Groenenboom led the North Central victory in the 1000-meter run in 2:40.70 with
Logan Keeling falling just behind with 2:41.28. The team also netted a victory in the 3000-meter run off the efforts of
Owen Dare with a finish of 8:39.87 as
Aidan Armstrong (8:41.20) and
Jacob Everix (8:42.99) followed behind.
Zach Anderson represented the Cardinals in the 60-meter dash to finish fourth in 6.97 seconds to move up to fourth in the program's top ten. The 200-meter dash saw
Brian Jackson lead North Central in fourth with 22.74 seconds. A team effort by group A (
Gabe Parker,
Arturo Martinez, Anderson, and
Tyler Piron) finished in third place with 3:27.45.
In the shot put
Ben Balboa snagged third with 15.48 meters (50 feet, 9.50 inches) to enter ninth in the program's top ten with
Daniel Dominguez following in fourth with 15.19m (49' 10"). The triple jump saw
Jayden Leise leap to second with a measure of 14.25m (46' 9") and Ammenhauser entered fourth with 14.00m (45' 11.25").
Anthony Zajac led the Cardinals in the weight throws with a measure of 16.38m (53' 9") with
Martin Egbo close behind with 16.29m (53' 5.50"). In the long jump,
James Ammenhauser leaped to second with 6.86m (22' 6.25") while
Joel Jaquinde pole vaulted to third with a measure of 4.28m (14' 0.50").
