LEESBURG, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2025)- The North Central College softball team entered day four of competition of THE Spring Games with a pair of matchups against Mount Saint Mary College (NY), where they would win 7-1, and UMass Dartmouth, where they fell 7-6 Monday at the Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex.

The Knights (0-4) struck first in the game, scoring their only run in the top of the first. A leadoff single by Grace Reich led to a walk by Chlore Graham, which advanced Reich to second, and an RBI single coming the way of Grace MacDonald scored Reich to make it 1-0. North Central immediately tied it in the bottom of the first after an RBI single to right center from Rachael Madsen scored Sarah Lynch, who reached base after being hit by a pitch.

The Cardinals (4-4) tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the second inning after Gracie Vlach and Ronnie Latka hit back-to-back singles. Talia Torosian drove in Latka with an RBI single to left field, and Hailey Morosvillo plated Vlach with a single to center, giving North Central the 3-1 advantage.

In the bottom of the sixth, North Central added four insurance runs thanks to a pair of hits from Kayla Crabtree with an RBI double bringing home Sydney Nienhouse and an RBI single by Lauren Bowmar, which drove Madsen home. Crabtree and Herder both scored on fielder's choices, bringing the game to the 7-1 final score.

Sam Schilf started the game for the Cardinals, going the distance, surrendering just four hits and one earned run while punching out eight. Vlach and Madsen were busy on the basepaths as Vlach went 3-for-4 with one run scored and Madsen went 4-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.

The Cardinals four-game winning streak came to an end against the Corsairs, falling 7-6.
