Tyler DiSilvio,
Sean Molloy and
Tyler Swierczek of the North Central College basketball team claimed the accolade for their combined successes in the classroom and on the court.
To be eligible for this award, student-athletes must be at least sophomores with a 3.50 or higher grade point average. Transfers are also immediately eligible if they meet the previous criteria. Athletically, nominees must compete in 90 percent of games played or start in at least 66 percent of games played. Student-athletes are nominated by the institution's sports information departments.
DiSilvio played in 25 games for the Cardinals, averaging 5.3 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.67 assists per contest. The business management major scored a season-high 14 points in an overtime victory against Benedictine University as North Central reclaimed the Battle for Chicago/Maple Avenue trophy. He scored double figures in five games for North Central.
Molloy, now a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, scored 5.3 points per game with 2.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists per contest. The marketing major recorded a season-high 17 points against Millikin University on Dec. 4, 2024. He scored in double figures five times on the season.
Swierczek, a finance and business economics double major, averaged 12.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game for the Cardinals. He started all 27 games for North Central, scoring a season-high 23 points against Augustana College on Feb. 1, 2025. The forward tallied double figures 19 times on the season.
The Cardinals finished the season 15-12 with a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin record of 7-9. North Central beat North Park University 94-92 in the first round of the CCIW Tournament before bowing out in the semifinals with an 84-83 loss to top-seeded Carthage College.
