Mar. 4, 2025 - Following a 3-1 weekend for the North Central College men's tennis team, Ramon Vilarroig Martinez has earned his seventh career College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week honor.

The Cardinals fell 5-2 to No. 17 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater despite Vilarroig Martinez earning a 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 comeback victory at No. 1 singles. On Saturday, North Central defeated Hope College, 7-0 with Vilarroig Martinez winning 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 over the Flying Dutchmen's top singles player, Cooper Nugent.

On the season, the Madrid, Spain native is 8-3 with a 5-1 mark in tournament play. For his career, Vilarroig Martinez is the program wins leader with 170 (84 singles and 86 doubles wins) over his time as a Cardinal. He is joined by Matthew Sengphommachanh and Matt Crossland as active players recognized by the CCIW with a weekly accolade.

The Cardinals head to Orlando, Fla. for their annual spring break tournament. The four-match trip begins with an 11 a.m. (ET) contest against Oglethorpe University at the USTA National Campus Sunday, Mar. 9.
