Mar. 4, 2025 - For the fifth time in her storied career, North Central College women's tennis junior Abigail Penados was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week following a leaguewide coaches vote.

Against No. 35 Hope College, Penados took care of business at the No. 1 singles match, defeating Amanda Lopykinski in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles play, Penados teamed up with Kensington Payne, but the Cardinal duo ultimately fell 6-3.

Penados was named the 2024 CCIW Player of the Year in the fall as North Central won its fifth straight CCIW Title. On the season, she is 11-2 and 9-1 in dual matches. This marks her fifth CCIW weekly honor, the most in program history.

North Central heads to Florida for spring break as they compete in four matches in Orlando. The Cardinals begin with Christopher Newport University on Saturday, Mar. 8 at 3:30 p.m. (ET) on the USTA National Campus courts.
