ITA National/Regional Women's Tennis Rankings
Apr. 10, 2025 – In the latest edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's national and regional rankings, the North Central College women's tennis team comes in at No. 53 nationally following their sixth-place finish at the Midwest Invite.
The Cardinals beat Luther College, 5-2 in the sixth-place match of the Midwest Invite and falling to No. 21 Whitman College and Hope College. Abigail Penados, the winner of the most recent College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Player of the Week award, is ranked No. 49 as a singles player nationally and 10th in the Central Region. In doubles, Penados and Kensington Payne appear as the No. 10 ranked duo in the region.
The University of Chicago remains as the No. 1 team in Division III with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Emory University, Middlebury University and Wesleyan University rounding out the top five. Wheaton College is the only other CCIW school to appear in the rankings at Mo. 70
North Central, the 2024 CCIW Champions, are 11-7 overall. They wrap up the regular season this weekend by facing Washington University in St. Louis Friday for senior day before visiting the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday.
