ELMHURST, Ill. (Apr. 16, 2025) - Winning their 12th straight match over the Bluejays, the North Central College men's tennis team did not drop a set in doubles play as the Cardinals cruised past Elmhurst University, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Brune Tennis Courts.

Ignacio Hernandez Ruiz and Justin Penados handled business at No. 2 doubles before Ramon Vilarroig Martinez and Philipp Wottgen swept the Bluejays' No. 1 duo to win the doubles point. Rafael Lessa and Henry Ros won via forfeit at No. 3.

Already ahead 2-0 after a Matthew Crossland win via forfeit at No. 6, Wottgen and Ros each rolled to 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 4 and 5, respectively, to clinch the match for North Central. Vilarroig Martinez, Hernanedez Ruiz, and Lessa all won in straight sets to complete the 7-0 sweep over Elmhurst.

The Cardinals host Illinois Wesleyan University on Saturday to continue conference play. The match is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Naperville Tennis Club.
