Apr. 26, 2025 - For the second time in his career, North Central College men's tennis senior Ramon Vilarroig Martinez has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's Player of the Year while earning his fourth First Team selection. Matthew Sengphommachanh earned his third All-CCW recognition with a First Team honor.

Vilarroig Martinez, now a five-time All-CCIW winner, was named the CCIW's Player of the Year in 2022 as well. This season, he went a perfect 12-0 against league competition between singles and doubles play. Overall, Vilarroig Martinez is 18-5 in singles and 19-5 in doubles. 

Sengphommachanh, now a two-time First Team honoree, is 5-0 in CCIW action as a singles player. He also posted a perfect 5-0 mark in conference doubles matches. He is 16-5 in doubles play on the year and 14-5 against singles competition.

The Cardinals have earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCIW Tournament, hosted by Augustana. North Central takes on No. 8 Elmhurst University at 8:30 a.m. in the quarterfinals inside Westwood Tennis Center.

The CCIW also announced the nine winners of its RESPECT Award for the season. RESPECT Award recipients have distinguished themselves as an integral member of the team, their institution and their community by upholding the values of Responsibility, Enthusiasm, Service, Pride, Excellence, Collaboration and Trust. The RESPECT Award recognizes the intangible traits a student-athlete possesses that exemplify great character and encourage inclusiveness and a positive culture. North Central's RESPECT Award honoree is Matt Crossland.
