2025 Softball CSC Academic All-District Selections
May 27, 2025 – Five members of the North Central College softball team earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors for their combined success in the classroom and on the diamond, the most selections in program history.
Sam Schilf, now a two-time selection, is joined by first-time recipients Kayla Crabtree, Rachael Madsen, Juliana Maude and Talia Torosian.
Nominated by members of CSC, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. In softball, position players must also have participated in at least 90 percent of their team's games or started at least 66 percent, while pitchers must have at least 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched.
Schilf, an exercise science major, threw 127.0 innings for the Cardinals this season with a 3.25 earned-run average. She tallied a 9-11 record in the circle wth 83 strikeouts and 11 complete games. Maude, the other North Central pitcher with over 100 innings pitched, earned a 10-9 record over her 121.0 innings. The health science major posted a 10-9 record with a 2.83 ERA and was named a Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin honoree.
Madsen, a management major, led the team with 41 hits, 22 runs, nine doubles, and five stolen bases. Crabtree, a sport management major, hit .288 in her 111 at-bats with 17 RBI. Torosian, an elementary education major and first team All-CCIW selection, hit .255 on the year with 21 RBI, 20 runs and a .376 slugging percentage.
In total, North Central has 17 CSC Academic All-District selections since 1996, 12 of which have come in the last three seasons. The Cardinals finished the 2025 season with a 20-23 overall record and a 7-9 mark in conference play.
