2025 Spring Academic All-CCIW List
June 26, 2025 - North Central College has announced 122 recipients of the Dave Wrath Academic All-College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Award for the 2025 spring athletic season. The Cardinals also honor their two Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference honorees, women's lacrosse senior midfielder
Abby MacKenzie and men's track & field distance runner
BJ Sorg.
The Dave Wrath Academic All-Conference list includes student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or higher and have completed at least one year of residency at their respective institutions.
The award is named in honor of Dave Wrath, a former Augustana College athletics administrator. Wrath retired in June 2021 after serving 40 years with the Vikings, most recently as associate director of athletics for media and alumni relations. He also served as the CCIW sports information director from 1996 to 2005 and played a key role in launching the Academic All-Conference program in 2005.
The CCIW also announced its Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award recipients. Each member institution selects two student-athletes—one male and one female—from each of the three sports seasons (fall, winter, spring). Honorees must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher and at least one year of residency at their institution.
The award is named after Jack Swartz, former Wheaton College director of athletics and CCIW commissioner. Swartz served as athletics director from 1975 to 1982 and as commissioner from 1987 until his passing on July 11, 1997.
MacKenzie, a biology major, started all 16 games for the Cardinals this season, recording career highs in goals (52) and total points (60). She ranks fourth on the program's all-time goals list with 150 goals over her four-year career.
Sorg, an environmental science major, posted season-best times of 14:29.24 in the 5,000 meters and 29:47.26 in the 10,000 meters. This marks his third Academic All-Conference honor of the year, having also been recognized for the 2024 men's cross country season as well as 2025 indoor track & field season, He earned CCIW First Team, All-Region, and All-American honors this year.
