LISLE, Ill. (Sept. 2, 2025) - The North Central College women's tennis team opened the 2025 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) season with a strong performance, earning a 5-2 win over Carroll University Tuesday at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts.
The Cardinals set the tone early in doubles play with
Liveta Ezerskis and
Kate Herlihy collecting a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles. The No. 3 duo of
Sophia Drozd and
Eva Zaskowski secured the doubles point with a hard-fought 7-5 win.
In singles play,
Kensington Payne earned the first point for the Cardinals with a 6-2, 6-2 win in straight sets.
Kate Herlihy kept the momentum going, winning her match 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.
Abigail Penados clinched the victory, winning 6-1, 6-1 at the top spot to secure the final team point.
Liveta Ezerskis clinched her match with a 10-8 victory in the third set, earning another point for the Cardinal team to win overall 5-2.
North Central returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 6, hosting Millikin University in another CCIW matchup. First serve is set for 12 p.m. at the Benet Academy Tennis Courts in Lisle, Ill.
