NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The North Central College men's track and field team earned its first College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) weekly accolade of the indoor season as senior sprinter
Randy Reed was named CCIW Runner of the Week, marking the first weekly honor of his collegiate career. Reed is the first Cardinal sprinter to earn the distinction since January of 2023.
This week's installment included all performances since Dec. 8, during which Reed has delivered two career best times in the 60-meter dash, another in the 200-meter dash, and set a new school record in the 300-meter dash.
Reed opened the indoor campaign at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite by clocking a school record time of 34.53 seconds in the 300m, breaking a mark that had stood for 32 years.
More recently, he had a strong showing at the Pat Heenan Invitational, where he posted personal best performances in both the 60m and 200m dashes. Reed finished with a time of 6.88 seconds in the 60m final, ranking second all-time in North Central history and currently standing 22nd in NCAA Division III this season. In the 200m, Reed placed second with a career-best time of 22.0 seconds, which ranks third in program history. His converted banked-track time of 21.62 seconds currently ranks sixth nationally. Reed leads the conference in both the 60m and 200m dashes.
The Cardinals return to action this Saturday, Jan. 24, as North Central competes at Aurora University's Grand Prix at the Gately Track and Field Center in Chicago, Ill.
