CHICAGO (Jan. 24, 2026) - Competing at the Aurora Grand Prix, the North Central College men's track & field team turned in 15 top-five finishes during a full team effort Saturday at Gately Indoor Track & Field.
Randy Reed continues to impress in his senior campaign, breaking the 200-meter dash school record in a loaded compeition field.
Reed posted a season-best time of 21.57 in the 200-meter dash, earning a second-place finish and breaking a school record that had stood for more than 20 years. He has continued to set new marks this season, previously breaking the school record in the 300m dash. Reed also placed third in the 60m dash, running a 6.91 in the event's opening race.
Matthew Vergamini ran a season-best 8.54, just one one-hundredth off of first place, in the 60-meter hurdles to claim second place. Kamil Kokot (8.58) took fourth with Travis Hoffman right behind in fifth (8.74).
The Cardinal distance runners made their marks in the Division III leaderboard. In the mile, Aidan Armstrong secured a career-best time of 4:14.45, the 31st-best time in Division III this season, to take second place. Ari Elmayan finished with a career-best time in the 5,000-meter run, posting a 14:59.64, the 38th-best mark in the DIII so far this season.
North Central's relay teams delivered strong performances, as the Cardinal 4x400 meter group of Will Splant, Jake Juneau, Keydric Fulton-Wilson and Arturo Martinez secured second place in 3:29.45. The 4x200 meter team of Grant Bond, Bernard Fellows Jr., Benjamin Ishimwe and Alexander Moos also finished in the top five, taking fifth in 1:33.95.
Ben Balboa picked up another second-place finish for the Cardinals, with a throw of 15.36m (50'4.75") in the shot put. Martin Donahue posted a mark of 14.04m (46'0.75") to take fifth. Balboa paced North Central in the weight throw as well, taking fourth place with a season-best toss of 15.25m (50'0.50"). Daniel Dominguez finished in fifth place in the event with a throw of 14.22m (46'8.0").
Gabe Parker secured another fourth-place finish for North Central, recording a 4.45m (14'7.25") mark in the pole vault. Rounding out the top five finish for the Cardinals was Drew Patterson in the 800-meter dash, posting a season-best time of 1:56.18.
North Central competes in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Squig Converse Invitational & Multi, beginning Friday at 11 a.m. inside the Williams Center.
