BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (March 13, 2026) - The North Central College men's and women's track and field teams capped off the opening day of the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships with two Second Team All-America honorees in BJ Sorg in the 5,000m and Prentice Myles in the long jump.

Sorg settled in just outside the top 10 runners through the first 2000m of the 5k. Positions in the middle of the pack began to jostle at the 3600m mark but Sorg held steady in 11th-place. With three laps to go, Sorg and the rest of the group kicked it up a notch but he ultimately finished 11th-overall in a time of 14:23.34. The effort earned him USTFCCCA Second Team All-American status.

Earlier in the day, Myles made his nationals debut in the long jump.  The senior fouled his first two jumps before finding a mark on his third attempt. Myles jumped a 5.10-meter mark (16'8.75"), good for 16th place and USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors.

Gwen Berenyi of the women's team also made her second straight NCAA indoor appearance in the pole vault but was unable to get a mark in the competition.

Cole Oleson will wrap up Cardinal competition at the NCAA Championships tomorrow at 3:45 p.m. in the high jump. Live coverage of the meet can be found here or on the track and field schedule pages of northcentralcardinals.com.
