KENOSHA, Wis. (Mar. 3, 2026) - In the first meet of last-chance meets this weekend, the North Central College women's track and field team traveled to Carthage College for the Firebird Finale looking to secure last-chance qualifying marks.
Making
a statement in the Tarble Arena,
Gwen Berenyi placed first with a 3.76 meter (12'4.02") mark. Carolina Kuttner followed, placing second with a 3.46 meter (11'4.22") performance, while
Lucia Sanchez Scriven finished fourth (3.16m, 10' 4.41") and
Lily Wintergerst in fifth (3.16m, 10 '4.41").
Freshman,
Julia Kelly, had an outstanding day for the Cardinals, taking first place in the meet's triple jump with a personal-best of 11.59 meters (38' 0.4"). The jump improved her previous best by one inch and moved her to No. 19 in the NCAA Division III triple jump rankings.
Elianna Keyes also had a standout performance, finishing third with a new personal-best jump of 11.36 meters (37'3.5").
In
the long jump, Sanchez Scriven recorded a season-best leap of 5.35 meters (17' 6.6") to finish third in the meet, while
Aaliyah Rodriguez matched the mark at 5.35m (17' 6.6") and placed fourth behind her Cardinal teammate.
In the 400-meter dash,
Zara Uvakova ran a personal-best time of 1:02.28 to finish second, cutting nearly a second off her previous best.
Samantha Kelly recorded a time of 2:34.26 in the 800-meter run, placing fourth in the meet.
Qualifying Cardinals with highly ranked marks will travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships, scheduled for Mar. 13–14.
