Schilf Slated As CCIW Pitcher of the Week

NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Mar. 9, 2026)- Senior pitcher Sam Schilf has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) pitcher of the week for the week of Mar. 2-8. This is the first time Schilf has been honored as the player of the week in her collegiate career. 

Schilf made two appearances on Sunday, Mar. 8, in Clermont, Fla., in THE Spring Games, where she faced Rhode Island College and Skidmore College. In the two outings, Schilf combined to pitch for 9.1 innings, giving up just two earned runs on five hits while striking out five. She held opponents to a .156 batting average against while posting a 1.50 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP. Coming in relief, Schilf pitched 5.2 innings against Rhode Island College and gave up zero earned runs while striking out three to finish the game. 


This season, Schilf has posted a 3.65 ERA in two starts and three appearances in 15.1 innings. She has struck out 13 batters while allowing a batting average against of .254 with only one extra base hit surrendered. 


The Cardinals are in the midst of competition in THE Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. They continue action tomorrow when they face Regis College on Tuesday, Mar. 10, at Hancock Park. First pitch is set for 9 a.m. (ET).
