NAPERVILLE, Ill. (April 1, 2026) – North Central College men's track and field distance runner
BJ Sorg has earned his first-ever outdoor College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Track Athlete of the Week selection after an impressive performance in the 10,000-meter run this past weekend in St. Louis, Mo.
It marks Sorg's first outdoor honor but the second in his career after earning the honor during the indoor season this year.
Down at the WashU Distance Carnival on March 27, Sorg delivered a standout performance in the 10k as the junior placed fifth overall in the 100-person field. He posted a personal-best time of 29:23.88, nearly 24 seconds faster than his previous best time.
Sorg's mark moves him up to sixth in program history, and he currently ranks fourth in NCAA Division III this outdoor season. His time leads the CCIW this season by 20 seconds.
The Cardinals had a quick turnaround in competition due to the weather, having competed on Tuesday at the Wheaton College Invitational. North Central will be back in action next Thursday-Saturday, April 9-11, as they split up for another two-meet weekend in Elmhurst, Ill. and Platteville, Wis.
