ST. LOUIS (April 18, 2026) – The North Central women's tennis team traveled south to St. Louis on Saturday to take on No. 2 Washington University in St. Louis. The Cardinals fell 6-1 in what was their first of two matches this weekend.
Abigail Penados and Meghan McSweeney teamed up in the top doubles spot, but lost in a tight 7-5 contest. Kate Herlihy and Liveta Ezerskis fell 6-1 in their doubles contest in the second slot, while Sophia Drozd and Alexa Zaskowski were swept 6-0 in the number three slot.
North Central's (13-7) lone point was claimed by Penados, who got the win after her opponent retired three sets into the contest, giving Penados her 18th singles victory on the campaign, and her 16th win in a dual this season.
Ezerskis played in the second spot in the lineup, losing 6-0, 6-1. Herlihy fell in her contest 6-1, 6-2, while McSweeney lost 6-0, 6-2.
Drozd was swept in straight sets in the number five spot, while Zaskowski was swept in the sixth.
The Cardinals are back in action tomorrow, hosting No. 63 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Naperville North High School beginning at noon.
