NAPERVILLE, Ill. (April 22, 2026) – North Central College distance runner Daniel Kasperan earned the first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Athlete of the Week award of his career after setting a new Cardinal freshman record in the 10,000-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational this past weekend.

Kasperan is the latest Cardinal to receive CCIW weekly honors, joining Randy Reed and BJ Sorg, who were recognized earlier this outdoor season.

Competing in the all-divisions Open A section of the 10,000-meter run at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California, Kasperan placed 30th in a 70-person field while recording a personal-best time of 30:22.90. His performance broke the previous freshman record that was set three years ago by nearly 10 seconds. Kasperan now ranks third in the CCIW and 30th nationally in NCAA Division III.

Due to weather-related schedule adjustments, the Cardinals are competing today at Wheaton College's Old Fashioned Track Meet at McCully Stadium.
