Men’s Track Wins Eight Events at Old Fashioned Track Meet

WHEATON, Ill. (April 22, 2026) - The North Central College men's track and field team posted eight event wins at the Old Fashioned Track Meet hosted by Elmhurst University at Wheaton College's McCully Stadium Wednesday evening. 

Matt Lewis claimed the event win in the 100-meter dash with the seventh-fastest time in Cardinal history at 10.77 seconds. Dion'ta McDaniel earned a runner-up finish with the program's 10th fastest time in its history at 10.82 seconds. 

Christian Kokot turned in a pair of wins in both the 110m and 400m hurdles. Kokot's time of 14.69 seconds in the high hurdles ranks seventh in program history. He won the 400m hurdles in a time of 58.03 followed by Grant Bond in second (58.10) and Giovanny Hernandez in third (59.60). Daniel Nwatu posted a runner-up finish in the 110m hurdles in 15.15 seconds.

Jake Juneau and Alex Moos turned in personal bests in the 200m to finish second (22.41) and third (22.44), respectively. Zach Anderson won the 400m with a personal best time of 49.76 while Moos was third with another career best at 50.76 seconds. 

Brayden Groenenboom earned the runner-up spot in the 800m in a time of 1:57.65 while Tyler Schick placed second in the 1500m (4:06.31) and Owen Christy was third (4:08.41). 

The Cardinals brought back a pair of wins in the throwing events, led by Ben Balboa in the discus throw (48.13m, 157'11") and Josh Friedland in the shot put (14.03m, 46'0.50"). Balboa was the runner-up in the shot put (13.89m, 45'7") while Martin Donahue finished out the Cardinals' sweep of the top-three places(13.71m, 44'11.75"0). Friedland also recorded a third-place finish in the discus (40.49m, 132'10").

In his first outdoor meet of the season, Cole Oleson placed second in the high jump with a 1.87m (6'1.50") clearance and Isaiah Shepard was third at 1.82m (5'11.50"). Over in the pole vault, Bobby Guetthoff cleared 4.25m (13'11.25") for second and Jacob Ahlberg was third with a 3.80m (12'5.50") vault. 

Jayden Leise won the triple jump with a 14.03m (46'0.50") mark followed by Kevin Fist in second with a 13.49m (44'3.25") jump. Michael Robinson jumped a 6.41m (21'0.50") to finish second in the long jump.

The 4-by-100m relay squad of Ebin Fladeland, Aidan Fladeland, Julian Vickery, and Travis Hoffman clocked a 42.58-second run for the event win. 

The Cardinals continue a busy week of competition, sending student-athletes to the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open in Iowa, and the Cougar Invite in Lisle over the next few days.
