Sept. 22, 2026 – The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin has named North Central College women's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Emma Megerle this week's CCIW Defensive Player of the Week after two appearances, including a career day in her first collegiate start against Trine University.
 
Megerle stepped up in goal this week, earning a combined shutout and recording a save against University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at home on Sept. 15. She recorded 43 minutes in goal against the Warhawks before getting her first career start on Sept. 19 against Trine University.
 
Against the Thunder, Megerle claimed her first career shutout, extending the Cardinals' shutout streak to five. She recorded a career-high six saves against the Thunder.
 
Following its win on Monday, Sept. 22 against Dominican University, North Central carries a 7-0 record into Saturday's CCIW opener against Illinois Wesleyan University at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium.
