Andrea Starr ’16 opened her career in dominant fashion, winning her first nine starts in the circle on the way to a 10–4 freshman record with a 3.25 earned-run average. Her freshman campaign was highlighted by the 18th no-hitter in program history when she blanked Nichols College at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Florida. She became the Cardinals’ ace as a sophomore, leading the pitching staff in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched. She powered North Central to the NCAA Central College Regional title with three complete-game victories in which she allowed only four total runs. That effort pushed the Cardinals into the NCAA Division III Super Regionals on their home field, taking the University of St. Thomas to a decisive third game. Starr again anchored the rotation in 2015, compiling 20 wins, 113 strikeouts, 175.1 innings pitched, and a 1.68 ERA. She also added a second career no-hitter in a 3–0 win over the University of Chicago on April 11 and earned CCIW Pitcher of the Year and NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team honors. Starr closed her career with a second All-CCIW selection and finished among the program’s top five in five major pitching categories, while also proving to be a threat at the plate, hitting .325 over 348 at-bats with 113 hits, 82 RBIs, 51 runs, 15 home runs, and 26 doubles.
