Jan. 27, 2009 - For the second time this season, the North Central College men's basketball team is among the vote-getters in the D3hoops.com national Top 25 Poll, released late Monday.
North Central (12-5, 4-2 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) split its games last week, losing, 72-66, at No. 17 Elmhurst College (Ill.) on Wednesday before a 76-64 victory over Carthage College (Wis.) on Saturday. The Cardinals received five votes in this week's poll, the same amount they received in the poll released on Jan. 12.
The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) received 18 of 25 first-place votes and takes over the top spot in the poll for the first time this season. CCIW rival Wheaton College (Ill.) sits seventh this week, while Augustana College (Ill.) is 15th. Carthage also received votes this week.
The Cardinals host Wheaton on Wednesday. Tipoff at Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
