MEQUON, Wis. (Sept. 5, 2009) - The North Central College volleyball team closed out its weekend with two shutout wins on Saturday, blanking North Central University (Minn.) and Lawrence University (Wis.) at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Tournament.

The Cardinals encountered little resistance in their first match of the day, steamrolling North Central University, 25-6, 25-9, 25-8. North Central College tallied a single-match record 21 aces in the victory, led by Stephanie Ryding, who finished with six. Jamie Drozd added five aces, while Anna Wirtz totaled four and Christy Hermann finished with three.

Crystal Wright led the Cardinals with six kills in the match, while Alyssa Lantz totaled a team-high 13 assists. Ali Briner finished with four block assists and Amy Bruns added one solo block and three block assists.

North Central closed out the weekend with by knocking off Lawrence, 25-18, 25-13, 25-20. Emily Cardwell finished with 10 kills, while Wright added 10 to go with four service aces and 10 digs. Ryan Lally turned in 29 assists and Briner finished with one solo block and one block assist.

The Cardinals (6-0) will attempt to keep their perfect record intact on Friday and Saturday, when they travel to Chicago to participate in the North Park University Tournament.
