Red Men Top Cardinals, 6-3

Apr. 13, 2010-- The North Central College men's tennis squad was unable to match the depth of defending College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin champion Carthage College on Tuesday afternoon, falling 6-3 in a dual match at Ranchview Park.

Dropping matches at No. 2 and No. 3, Matt Boguslawski and Sam Sweeney avoided the Red Men doubles sweep, winning 8-4 over Sammy Ramoni and Jeff Lotz in No. 1 action, improving their record to 11-2 on the season and remaining unbeaten against non-regionally ranked foes.

In singles, 12th-ranked Sweeney rolled to the, 6-1, 6-0, victory over fifth-ranked Ramoni at No.1 action for his 10th straight win, improving to 11-1 on the year and remaining perfect against regional-ranked opponents. At No. 2, Boguslawski faltered, 6-2, 6-2, to 14th-ranked Jack Schiro while Josh Clay picked up the, 7-6 (9), 6-0, victory over Alex McLean at No. 6.

With the loss, North Central falls to 2-11 on the year and 0-2 in CCIW action while the Red Men improve to 10-6 and 3-0 in conference. The Cardinals return to the courts tomorrow, facing the University of Chicago in a non-conference dual at 3:30 p.m.
