Complete All-CCIW Team

May 13, 2010-- The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin released its All-Conference men's tennis team on Thursday with North Central College's Matt Boguslawski and Sam Sweeney each earning a spot on the First Team. Sweeney was additionally honored as the CCIW Player of the Year, claiming the award for the second consecutive season.

Boguslawski earns a spot on the All-CCIW squad for the second straight year after earning Second Team honors in 2009. The sophomore compiled a 12-8 record playing at No. 2 singles including a 4-1 mark against the CCIW in dual match play. Boguslawski and his partner Sweeney combined to finish 18-3 in No. 1 doubles, finishing the conference slate undefeated to win their second straight No. 1 doubles championship. The duo, ranked 13th in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, finished the year on a seven-match win streak.

Sweeney claims CCIW Player of the Year and First Team All-CCIW honors for the second consecutive season after finishing conference play 5-0 in singles, successfully defending his conference crown at the No. 1 position. The junior, ranked third in the Central Region by the ITA, has an 18-3 mark at No. 1 singles this season and is 3-2 against regionally ranked opposition. His performance has not gone unnoticed at the national level as Sweeney was one of 32 individuals selected to the NCAA Division III Championships to be held at Oberlin College (Ohio) on May 28-30.

The Cardinals closed out the 2010 season with a 7-15 overall record and a 2-3 mark in CCIW action before placing fourth at last weekend's CCIW Tournament, North Central's highest finish this decade.
