Jan. 31, 2011 -  North Central College's Landon Gamble has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 24-30.

The freshman forward averaged 23 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game in a pair of North Central victories last week. In Wednesday's 76-58 victory over Elmhurst College, Gamble scored a season-high 25 points, making 10 of 14 shots from the floor and 5 of 6 free-throw attempts.

He totaled 21 points in a 79-67 win at Wheaton College on Saturday, connecting on all 10 of his shots from the floor. His unblemished accuracy is topped in the North Central record books only by an 11-for-11 performance by Anthony Simmons '07, also against Wheaton, during the 2004-2005 season.

Gamble is the third Cardinal to receive Player of the Week honors from the CCIW this season. Freshman guard CJ Goldthree was named the conference's top player for Dec. 12-18, and senior guard Brian Evans was so honored for the week of Jan. 9-15.

North Central is one of two CCIW teams to receive three Player of the Week Awards this season and is the only one to have three different players receive the distinction.

The Cardinals (10-9, 6-2 CCIW)  return to action Wednesday, hosting 20th-ranked  Illinois Wesleyan University (14-5, 5-3 CCIW) at 7:30 p.m. inside Gregory Arena.
