CCIW Press Release

Jan. 30, 2012 -
North Central College's Landon Gamble has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29.

Gamble was selected for the honor after helping lead the Cardinals to a pair of victories last week, which gave North Central sole possession of first place in the CCIW standings.

Gamble put up 18 points on 9 of 16 shooting in just 22 minutes as the Cardinals dismantled North Park University, 73-54, on Tuesday. He then totaled 21 points and eight rebounds on Saturday as North Central erased a four-point deficit late in the second half and defeated Carthage College, 77-74, in overtime on the Red Men's home court.

Currently first on the team and fifth in the CCIW in scoring at 14.6 points per game, Gamble is the second North Central player to earn CCIW Player of the Week honors this season. Derek Raridon received the distinction for the week of Jan. 2-8. Gamble was a First Team All-CCIW selection in 2010-11 and was an Honorable Mention Preseason All-America pick this year by D3hoops.com.

North Central (13-6, 7-1 CCIW) travels to R. A. Faganel Hall on Tuesday to face Elmhurst College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game can be followed live at wonc.org or www.sidearmstats.com/elmhurst/mbball/.
