Cardinals Finish Sixth at Benedictine

WOODRIDGE, Ill. (Oct. 8, 2012) - The North Central College men's golf team turned in a sixth place finish at the Benedictine University Eagle Invitational held at Seven Bridges Golf Course on Sunday. 

Brian Kirhofer shot a four-over par (40) to lead the Cardinals in the nine-hole tournament.  Carthage's Josh Kopka fired a 35 to win individual medalist honors.  Gavin Corrigan and Nick Muellner tied for 37th after shooting 41's, while Shane Kunz finished with a six-over (42).  Nick Stavropoulos finished in 49th after finishing with a 43.

The Cardinals combined for a team score of 164, 15 shots back of tournament winner Illinois Central Community College (149).  College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin institution Carthage College finished second (152), while North Park University took fourth (154).

The North Central junior varsity team also competed and finished 11th overall (168).  Karl Schlichting and Bobby Jocson tied for 11th (38) to lead the JV squad.  Nathan Blackburn finished with a 44, while Adam Bell checked in with a 48. 

The men's golf team is in action for the final time this fall today at the Naperville Collegiate Invitational.  The first round is being held at Cress Creek Country Club, while the second at Naperville Country Club.
