Cardinals Finish Sixth at IVCC Invitational

Oglesby, Ill. (Sept. 18, 2012) - The North Central College men's golf team finished in sixth place over the weekend out of 22 teams at the Illinois Valley Community College Invitational on Friday and Saturday. 

Friday's opening round was held at Deer Park Golf Course, while Saturday's final round was played at Senica's Oak Ridge Golf Course.

The Cardinals were led by Brian Kirhofer and Shane Kunz who both shot 153s and finished 14th out of 114 players over the two day invitational.  Kirhofer turned in two steady performances, shooting rounds of 74 and 79.  Kunz shot a 78 on Friday before firing a team-low 75 on Saturday.

Nick Stavropoulos shot a tournament low 72 in the opening round, and he followed it up with a second round 83.  Stravropoulos finished with a combined score of 155, good enough for 19th place. 

Gavin Corrigan shot a 161 and Karl Schlichting finished with a 166 to finish the scoring for the Cardinals. 

Alex Bremmer of Waubonsee Community College and Austin Worner of Illinois Central College both shot a 146 to take home medalist honors.  Illinois Central won the team title with a team score of 601.  North Central finished with a 622. 

The Cardinals hit the road on Friday when they play in the Millikin University Big Blue Fall Invitational.
