Feb. 18, 2013 - North Central College's Landon Gamble has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 11-17.
Gamble received the distinction for the second time this season after leading the Cardinals to a 88-61 victory over North Park University at Gregory Arena on Saturday. He scored a season-high 26 points on 11 of 12 shooting as North Central improved to 12-0 at home this season. His .917 shooting percentage is the fourth-best single-game mark in school history and the Cardinals' team field-goal percentage of .686 was the second-best ever at North Central.
Gamble has averaged 14.4 points per game this season for the eighth-ranked Cardinals and currently leads the CCIW in field-goal percentage (.594). He has been a First Team All-CCIW selection and earned All-Midwest Region honors each of the past two seasons.
This is Gamble's second CCIW Player of the Week Award this season, as he was also selected as the conference's top performer on Nov. 26. Teammates Derek Raridon and Vince Kmiec have also been so honored in the 2012-2013 campaign.
The Cardinals (21-3, 10-3 CCIW) host fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University (21-3, 13-0) in the regular-season finale for both teams on Tuesday. Tipoff at Gregory Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Links to live in-game statistics, audio and video can be accessed at northcentralcardinals.com/schedule.aspx?path=mbball.
