Muellner Shoots Two Over, Wins Aurora Spring Invite

Aurora, Ill. (Apr. 1, 2013)  – Nick Muellner shot a two over par 74 and led the North Central College men's golf team to a second place finish at the Aurora University Spring Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Aurora Country Club. 

Muellner's 74 was his lowest round of his North Central career and his first finish inside the top-20.  Led by Muellner's career day, the Cardinals finished with a team score over 319 and just three shots back of the team champion and College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin rival Wheaton College.  The University of Dubuque finished in third (325), while the hosts came in fourth (341).  Benedictine University finished in fifth with a 345. 

Nick Stavropoulos finished in seventh after firing an eight over 80, while Brian Kirhofer (82) and Gavin Corrigan (83) completed the scoring for the Cardinals.  Nathan Blackburn and Ben Henderson didn't figure into the team score, but performed well, shooting an 81 and 82, respectively. 

North Central hits the links again on Friday and Saturday when they make the trek to Bloomington, Ill. to square off at the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational at Ironwood Golf Course.
