Apr. 29, 2013 - North Central College's Danielle Fiala has been recognized as the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Defensive Player of the Week for Apr. 22-28.

Fiala helped lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 record last week with 12 goals and seven assists. She also added 12 ground balls, five caused turnovers and nine draw controls. Fiala totaled three goals, including the game winner, and two assists during a 10-9  overtime win over Carthage College on Thursday that secured North Central the No. 2 seed in the 2013 MWLC Tournament. She added two goals and four assists in an 18-0 win over Loras College on Friday and tied a single-game school record with seven goals in a 16-0 victory over Fontbonne University on Sunday.

Fiala, a First Team All-MWLC selection this season for the second straight year, was also named the conference's Player of the Week on Mar. 25 along with Gina Fisher. Claire Norfleet received the distinction on Apr. 15.

The Cardinals (11-4) face Carthage in the semifinals of the MWLC Tournament on Friday at Augustana College, beginning at 3 p.m. Links to live video and in-game statistics can be found at northcentralcardinals.com/wlax.
