ELGIN, Ill. (May 4, 2013) - The North Central College men's golf team entered the final two rounds of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Tournament in fifth, but slipped to sixth after Friday and Saturday's rounds at the Elgin Country Club.
With two combined rounds of 315, North Park University passed the Cardinals who shot a 340 on Friday and followed it with a 333 Saturday. Illinois Wesleyan University won the tournament, Millikin University came in second, and Wheaton College came in third.
Nick Stavropoulos was North Central's top finisher after coming in 25
th place with a four round score of 321.
Shane Kunz and
Nick Muellner tied for 30
th and
Brian Kirhofer finished just one shot back of them with a 40-over.
Gavin Corrigan was the final scorer for North Central and came in 40
th overall.
Nathan Blackburn played just the final two rounds of the tournament and shot two of North Central's top three rounds with a 79 on Friday and an 81 Saturday.
