Gina Fisher has been selected as the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Defensive Player of the Week forr Apr. 14-20, making her the first Cardinal to be so honored in the 2014 season.
Fisher received the distinction on the strength of her performance in two games last week, during which she established two new single-game school records and tied two others. In a
14-13 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin on Tuesday, she established a new North Central record with 14 ground balls and tied another record with seven goals scored. In Thursday's
20-7 victory over Benedictine University, Fisher recorded a school-record 10 draw controls and tied her own record with six caused turnovers while scoring five goals and tying a career high with four assists.
She is the Cardinals' career leader in assists (39), ground balls (147) and caused turnovers (78), and set single-season records of 21 assists, 84 ground balls and 48 caused turnovers in 2013, when she was named the MWLC's Defensive Player of the Year. Fisher is North Central's leader in every statistical category this season.
