MWLC Press Release

Apr. 21, 2014 - North Central College sophomore attacker Gina Fisher has been selected as the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) Offensive Player of the Week for Apr. 21-27, earning one of the conference's weekly awards for the second straight week.

Fisher led the Cardinals to a 2-1 record during the week. She set a single-game school record with 10 goals in a 17-13 win at the College of Mount St. Joseph Saturday, posting the highest scoring total ever in a MWLC game and the fourth-highest total by any Division III player this season. Fisher added six goals and four assists in a 22-3 win over Loras, also adding 11 ground balls, nine draw controls, and five caused turnovers. For the week, Fisher totaled 18 goals, five assists, 16 ground balls, 15 draw controls, and nine caused turnovers.

She is the Cardinals' career leader in assists (44), ground balls (160) and caused turnovers (87). She has already established single-season school records for assists (23) and draw controls (74), has tied the record for goals (56), and is on pace to break the records for ground balls (84) and caused turnovers (48) that she set in 2013, when she was named the MWLC's Defensive Player of the Year. Fisher is North Central's leader in every statistical category this season.

The conference's Defensive Player of the Week for Apr. 14-20, Fisher is one of four MWLC players to earn multiple Player of the Week awards and the only one to be selected two straight weeks.

North Central (8-5, 7-2 MWLC) has clinched a spot in this weekend's MWLC tournament and will close the regular season at the University of Dubuque Tuesday. Play is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
