WARRENVILLE, Ill. (Nov. 3, 2016) -
 Preparing for the upcoming Midwest Region Championship in its lone home event of the season, the North Central College women's cross country team scored a win in Thursday's Red/White Open, finishing at the top of a seven-team field at St. James Farm.

The Cardinals secured four of the top eight individual finishes and won the meet with 29 points. Washington University in St. Louis placed second with 37, followed by Wheaton College (72), Augustana College (105), Moody Bible Institute (127), Aurora University (182) and Carroll University (211).

North Central's Amanda Cortese won the individual championship as well, completing the three-mile course in 18 minutes, 4.69 seconds to finish 10 seconds in front of the 87-woman field. Helen Majer placed third overall in 18:22.35, followed by Tori Capozziello in fifth (18:35.23), Allison Hartman in eighth (18:43.92), Hailey Dammeier in 12th (19:11.26) and Rebecca Kaefring in 13th (19:11.48).

The Cardinals travel to Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winnecone, Wisconsin for the NCAA Division III Midwest Region Championship on Saturday, Nov. 12.
